Community fans from all around the world have a reason to cheer as there may be talks started soon for the production of the TV series’ sixth season through a potential partnership between Hulu Plus and Sony Pictures Television. The companies are in talks for a new season with 13 episodes.
There are many different TV shows that are currently seen as good choices for Hulu but Community does seem to be the one that is strongly considered at the moment. Community reruns currently run on the network and statistics show that it was the number 1 show in January.
By acquiring Community rights, Hulu can gain a signature show that can complete with Netflix, which got good PR benefits from the Arrested Development revival done in 2013. Hulu is currently ad-supported so the addition of the Community’s sixth season can bring in an increase in revenue.
Sony is surely interested in selling the rights for the TV show’s production but even so, the purchase would be the highest one made by Hulu. In the event that the officials believe that they cannot afford the expense, conversations will not reach a conclusion.
It has to be added that the Community season can actually start being promoted in around 6 months. This would be valuable as Hulu could have more time to look for potentially original hit content, which it lacks a lot at the moment.
