On Tuesday in Toronto, the Baltimore Orioles fell to the home-town Blue Jays in the American League wild-card game after a massive walk-off home run from designated hitter Edwin Encarnación. Encarnación’s dinger came in the bottom of the 11th inning and soared approximately 440 feet, good for three runs to give the Blue Jays the 5-2 win. Blue Jays outfielder Jose Bautista scored first in the game, putting Toronto up 1-0 in the bottom of the second, before Orioles outfielder Mark Trumbo put Baltimore up with a two-run homer in the top of the fourth. The Blue Jays tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the fifth, setting the stage for the extra innings and Encarnación’s emphatic at-bat. The Blue Jays will take on the Texas Rangers — a team they’ve had tensions with in the past — in the American League Division Series, with Game 1 on Thursday in Texas.
