Two llamas spent an hour or so on the loose in Arizona Thursday. The two beasts escaped after a rancher brought the pair to an assisted living facility to hang out with a retired llama rancher with a plan for the animals to hang out with and be therapeutic for an elderly ex-llama rancher.
But the llamas saw their chance for freedom and they took it.
Now llamas might not look like the cleverest of animals, but you’d be wrong to underestimate them. These 400-pound creatures ducked lasso ropes, ran across a road with heavy traffic and might have never been caught save for a cowboy who lassoed them from the back of a moving pickup truck.
Their antics caught the attention of America for a few hours and the hashtag #llamadrama went somewhat viral. Happily, no humans or llamas were hurt in the escape escapade.
