Watch Dogs is now the fastest selling game in Ubisoft history as it sold more first day copies than any other game that was launched in the past.
Jonathan Morin, Ubisoft creative director declared:
I once said that the buzz around Watch Dogs was driven by the incredible passion of our early fans. Today we broke the record for the biggest first-day sales in Ubisoft history.
Yves Guillemot, Ubisoft CEO, said at the start of the month that Ubisoft believes it will sell around 6 million copies of the game. This goal was set based on Assassin’s Creed shipment numbers.
The highly anticipated Watch Dogs game was just released for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. It is expected that a Wii U version will be available at the end of the year. The company is currently focused on finishing the Nintendo version in order to increase sales.
It is still too early to see if the CEO’s assessment will be fulfilled but the company is on the right path with Watch Dogs.
