The Ferguson community is still wracked by chaos and violence as new clashes took place between police and protesters. Fires hit an unoccupied residence and a local business. Shots were fired and Molotov cocktails were used by protesters.
According to Captain Ron Johnson, Missouri State Highway Patrol, 2 people were shot in the night, tear gas was used and the police were hit with rocks and bottles. 31 one people were arrested during the night and the police did not use any guns against the protesters. He stated:
“There is a dangerous dynamic in the night. Criminal activity came from a tiny minority of law-breakers.”
Johnson urged citizens to show up for protests during the day as the night is dangerous for everyone at the moment.
During the night, police told reporters that they need to leave the media staging area as their lives were in dangers. Shots were fired and 2 journalists were also taken into police custody. Rocks have been thrown at Craig Melvin and Chris Haves, MSNBC hosts as they reported on the air.
There was no police imposed curfew on Monday.
