Philadelphia district attorney, Seth Williams, recently declared that his office will take over a political corruption case that is controversial and that Pennsylvania attorney general, Kathleen Kane, declined to prosecute.
The case is about allegations made against 4 state legislators. There is proof that they accepted money and gifts so that they could offer political favors. Kathleen Kane declared:
“There may have been a racial focus to the targets of the investigation, improper reporting, inadequate resources and inadmissible evidence.”
While Kane considers that the case is flawed, Seth Williams does not think that. He said:
“We are here to find out what the facts are. We can’t put our heads in the sand.”
Local media highlighted that 4 Democratic legislators and one traffic court judge were filmed while they accepted gifts and money.
The case will be investigated by Seth Williams and if he believes that a trial is in order, a court will be conveyed as soon as possible. According to his initial assessment, the corruption was blatant and the reason behind the failure to prosecute is political.
