President Barack Obama addressed the nation in concern to the killing of US reporters killed by Islamic State militants. The statement appears as a second video of a killing of a US journalist was released on Tuesday.
Barack Obama offers a statement after the authorities verified that the video showing the beheading of Steven Sotloff is authentic. The video was released 2 weeks after James Foley was killed in a similar way.
There was no timeline offered for deciding on the strategy that is to be used in order to go after extremist groups that operate in Syria.
Obama declared that the US state will not forge the “terrible crime against these two fine young men”. He added:
“We will not be intimidated. Their horrific acts only unite us as a country and stiffen our resolve to take the fight against these terrorists.
And those who make the mistake of harming Americans will learn that we will not forget, and that our reach is long and that justice will be served.”
John Kerry, US Secretary Of State, also declared:
“We’ve taken the fight to it before, and we’re taking the fight to it today. When terrorists anywhere around the world have murdered our citizens, the United States held them accountable, no matter how long it took.
And those who have murdered James Foley and Steven Sotloff in Syria should know that the United States will hold them accountable too, no matter how long it takes.”
