Rafael Nadal won at Roland Garros 8 times till now and is trying to get to number 9. He is now through to the quarterfinal after a straight sets win. He defeated Dusan Lajovic and his next opponent will be David Ferrer.
While Nadal hopes to reach the fifth consecutive clay title in Paris, Ferrer did defeat Nadal in April, on clay. About the future match Nadal stated:
I think that I am playing a little bit better than when I was playing against him in Monte-Carlo, but I think he’s playing great, too. He played three weeks in a row at a very high level. In Madrid he played great, in Rome he played great, and he’s playing great here.
Ferrer lost last year’s final and will want to win now more than ever. He strolled past his opponent, Kevin Anderson, 6-3 6-3. The third set was won by Anderson thanks to a tie-break but the last set was won by Ferrer 6-1.
About the quarterfinal match against Nadal, Ferrer said:
I will try to do my best. I will try to play aggressively with my forehand and try to finish the points at the net. But of course it’s going to be difficult with Rafael on a clay court.
All tennis fans will want to tune in. Who do you think will win?
