The air strikes that are conducted by the US-led coalition so far killed a total of 910 people in Syria. This includes 52 civilians. The numbers mark the count since the current campaign started against the Islamic State militants and the other groups that support their activities.
Most of the deaths were among the Islamic State fighters, totaling 785, according to the monitoring group included in the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (Britain based).
The Islamic State continues the fighting, seizing lands in Iraq and Syria. Air strikes were also conducted in neighboring Iraq.
Among the dead civilians, 8 were children while 5 were women. The US declared that it does take the reports of casualties that are civilians seriously and will investigate all reports of civilian deaths.
The above mentioned observatory gathers information from a contacts network on the ground. It was also stated that 72 members of the al Qaeda Syria wing, Nusra Front, died in the attacks that started on September 23rd.
According to the US, the target in Syria is the Khorasan Group, which was officially described as being an al Qaeda veterans grouping that is currently protected by the Nusra Front. Analysts and even activists make no differentiation between these 2 groups.
The United Nations declared that around 200 thousand people were killed in the 4 year long Syria conflict till now.
