Veteran senator Pat Roberts fought off the challenged by doctor Milton Wolf, who was backed by the Tea Party in the Kansas primary. Wolf will not be able to start the promised “family feud” with relative Barack Obama.
According to the final results, Roberts secured 48% and Milton Wolf got 41% in a 4 candidates race. The results are not yet official but they will soon be.
Roberts enjoyed a long career in Congress, 47 years, and managed to fight the conservative challenger that constantly declared he wanted to “save the republic”.
Wolf recognized a distant family tie to the US President and built the entire campaign on promises to repeal policies set forth by the Democratic President.
Primaries were also held in Washington state, Michigan and Missouri.
John Ashcroft won in Missouri with around 54% of the votes against Jack Spooner with 36%. In Misouri, the US representatives face primary challengers but all of them are expected to hold seats going into the November elections.
In the Michigan Republican primary, Justin Amash, Tea Party-backed and member of a US House conservatives group known for resistance to compromise, won against challenger Brian Ellis.
