The second day of the World Cup was highly interesting for the soccer fan. Many different things happened during the matches but the surprise of the day was the heavy defeat of Spain against Netherlands 5-1.
Netherlands vs Spain – 5:1
The Netherlands made a huge statement by defending Spain in a really dominant manner. Many believe that the final score could have been 10-1 and that Spain was really lucky to go down just by 4 goals.
The key players of the game were Arjen Robben and Robin Van Persie. They drove the entire team towards the humiliating Spain defeat. Spain went ahead through a controversial penalty kick but after Van Persie’s equalizer, the second half was all Netherlands.
Mexico vs Cameron – 1:0
Mexico was not lucky but one goal by Dos Santos managed to get free and fired a really strong shot towards the Cameron goalkeeper who managed to block it. Peralta capitalized on the free ball and swept it into the net for a 1-0 lead that basically finished the game.
Chile vs Australia – 3:1
Chile dominated the game and were not bothered much by the Australian team in the beginning. The start of the match was all Chile with a possession of 74%. However, Australia did hold its own and the match was much closer than the final score might show. Arturo Vidal’s fitness is a big question though for Chile as he seemed to struggle in the game.
