The police revealed the identity of the Reynolds High School shooter that killed Emilio Hoffman, 14, and then went on to kill himself. It was also revealed that a gunfire exchange was made with the police and that the attacker was heavily armed. The motive behind the attack is not known.
Scott Anderson, Police Chief, declared:
“We have not established any link between the shooter and the victim. At this time it would be inappropriate to discuss a possible motive.”
Jared Michael Padgett was identified as the shooter and he came to the Reynolds High School with many different weapons. The rifle that he fired was an AR-15 but in his duffel bag and guitar case the police also found a knife, 9 loaded magazines and a semi-automatic handgun.
Besides Hoffman, Padgett also grazed PE teacher Todd Rispler but the wound was minor. Rispler was the one that quickly alerted the school and started a lockdown.
Police were called and this ultimately led to the shooter killing himself. The quick reaction of the PE teacher are seen as heroic.
