Joe Cornell, a recovering drug addict and Salvation Army worker, is now considered to be a hero because of the decision he made. Cornell found a bag with $125,000 that fell out of an armored truck. He returned the back and received a $5,000 reward. An extra $5,000 deposit was made for Salvation Army.
The local California hero found the bag as the armored truck pulled away in Fresno. He declared:
I started crying and shaking. Everything was going through my mind — the good devil/bad devil thing. What to do?
Because of the fact that his fourth grandchild would soon be born, his decision was made:
I thought, ‘What would I want her to think of me?’ That made up my mind right there. I got on my radio and called my boss. ‘Hey, I found a bag of money.’
Joe simply went to the office with the bag of money. Isn’t that rare?
