West Bank raids by Israeli troops looking for 3 Israeli teens believed to be abducted in the area let to the killing of a 15 year old Palestinian. 3 Palestinians were seriously injured during raids that took place in 4 refugee camps and towns.
The initial report was that just one seriously wounded Palestinian existed and that he died because of injuries. It later turned out that he is currently in critical condition but is still alive.
The number of Palestinians that were shot dead during this week’s raids now climbs to 2.
3 Jewish students disappeared on June 12th and Israel blamed Hamas for the abduction. No proof was offered.
Questions about the politics involved in the raids keep appearing as Benjamin Netanyahu, Israeli Prime Minister, uses them in order to promote an offensive against Hamas and tries to discredit the unity government of Palestinians that was formed at the beginning of the month according to Mahmoud Abbas, supported by Hamas.
Hamas did not take responsibility for the abduction of the teenagers but it did praise it. Palestinian families of those arrested protested in Hebron while showing their support for the abduction. Over 300 Palestinians were arrested.
One of the raids took place in Dura. The Israeli soldiers were met by youths throwing stones. This led to the army drawing fire.
According to a hospital official that spoke anonymously as he was not permitted to discuss with media, Mohammed Dodeen, 15, died during the conflict.
