Eastern Ukraine revel fighters recently captured the command base of the board guard after a siege that lasted 2 days. A second Ukrainian internal security forces base was also overwhelmed shortly after the initial rebel success.
The central Luhansk base is now captured after gunfire was heard for hours. It is not known anything about how many people were inside the base but all were ordered to remove uniforms following the attack.
According to the Associated Press, officials said that 6 militants died in the attack and 3 Ukrainian servicemen are injured.
The country’s acting president, Oleksandr V. Turchynov, recently visited the conflict area. Details about what cities were visited or what the reason was behind the visit were not released.
Turchynov will hand over the Presidential seat to Petro O. Poroshenko during Saturday but he did ask the National Security And Defense Council to consider martial Law in Eastern Ukraine. Interfax Ukraine mentioned that Vitaly Yarema, the country’s first deputy prime minister, said that martial law will be discussed only after the inauguration of the new president.
