Iran recently declared that the country opposes US intervention, together with the intervention of any other country in “domestic affairs of Iraq.” In addition, it was mentioned that the country can easily get rid of the ISIS insurgence, without outside help.
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei stated:
“We strongly oppose the intervention of the US and others in the domestic affairs of Iraq. The main dispute in Iraq is between those who want Iraq to join the US camp and those who seek an independent Iraq. The US aims to bring its own blind followers to power since the US is not happy about the current government in Iraq.”
The statement comes as the Iranian leaders said they were willing to work with US in the event that would be a necessity so that they can help Iraq.
Khamei also added that the people of Iraq, the government and the top clerics can end “sedition” since extremists are currently hostile against both Sunni muslims and Shia.
Iran declared that it supports the Baghdad Shia-led government and would consider military aid, if asked.
