Hassan Rouhani, Iran’s president, declared that his country is ready to help the government in Iraq in the fight against ISIS militants if the international law is respected, even if Baghdad did not request assistance.
In a live press conference broadcast, Rouhani declared:
“We all should practically and verbally confront terrorist groups. We can think about [military support] if we see America starts confronting the terrorist groups in Iraq or elsewhere.”
President Obama declared that USA will not offer support until Iraq shows some political plans and a wish to work together with USA. At the same time Iraq is getting ready to mount an offensive against the ISIS militants that have conquered a large area of the country in the past few days.
Britain recently announced that it will offer $5 million to help those that are fleeing from the jihadists in Northern Iraq. This includes clean water, medicine and basic household items.
