A Japanese man set himself on fire in Tokyo in what appeared to be a protest against the plans of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to ease the country’s limits. The defense policy of Japan will end up making a historic shift as the military will now be allowed to fight abroad.
The Prime Minister’s cabinet will adopt the resolution on Tuesday and will lift various different bans.
It is not known if the man survived after setting himself on fire. It was a police spokesman that confirmed the incident and the location was the Shinjuku station. No further details were released by the police.
According to witnesses, the man used a megaphone in order to protest against the “collective self-defense” ban lifts. It was also mentioned that he was yelling against the Japanese government.
After he set himself on fire, he was eventually hosed down and then carried away. We will update as we learn more about the incident.
